Online 3D poker room, PKR Poker, recently announced they have teamed up with Maxymiser a conversion management expert. The new contract will see the two companies working together to create an improved customer acquisition program and optimizing the landing page at PKR.
“At PKR, we are continually looking to enhance our online presence in order to provide our customers with the best possible experience whilst also driving customer acquisition. When we re-launched the PKR website in June last year, we were keen to understand why customers who were visiting the site did not always go on to register. By utilizing Maxymiser’s conversion management solutions we will now be able to see a direct correlation between website content and performance and this will help us to increase customer acquisition, which will have a significant impact on our bottom line,” stated the marketing director of PKR Simon Prodger.
PKR will be using Maxymiser’s services to try out several different layouts and sequences for their poker room to see which one works best to bring in players. The first round of testing will focus on the homepage at PKR. The poker room believes changes the home page will see the best results.
Maxymiser uses certain technology which can scientifically measure how the content on the poker room’s home page and the layout appear to customers. Live visitors will be able to test out many different layouts and PKR will be able to see which one will work best for them.
Prodger went on to say: “The combination of Maxymiser’s conversion management technology, consultancy services and account management made them the clear choice when we were looking for a partner. Through their managed service offering we are now able to test thousands of different variations in a live environment and analyze the results in real time, which we couldn’t have contemplated if we had taken this on in-house. Whilst other providers offer elements of what Maxymiser are providing us with, none was able to deliver to the same high level without us re-building the site to facilitate the testing.”

As we recently reported, the PPA held a rally yesterday morning outside of the Washington State Supreme Court Room to try and get the attention of the court. A law was recently passed that classifies playing online poker as a Class C Felony. The PPA met yesterday to try and get the law changed.
Oral arguments were heard yesterday in the case of Rousso v. State which is referring to Lee Rousso the PPA director of Washington State. Rousso has stated that the new law is unconstitutional as it makes individuals felons for playing online poker.
The statement read:
“The PPA is pleased that the Washington State Supreme Court agreed to hear this case, and today’s arguments have provided the court compelling reasons to reverse this ridiculous law. Washington is the only state in America that makes its citizens felons for enjoying a game of poker – even penny ante games – on their own computers in their own homes. This law is not about the legislature protecting the state’s citizens, but rather it is about protecting special interests and tribal casinos from competition. In fact, a recent poll of Washington voters found that almost 80 percent of voters oppose this law. The court of public opinion has spoken and now the state Supreme Court must strike down this unconstitutional and invasive law.
“I was amazed by the turnout of poker players who joined us this morning on the steps of the Supreme Court to support Mr. Rousso’s case. These Washington poker enthusiasts are doctors, lawyers, auto mechanics and school teachers, not hardened felons. The Poker Players Alliance is grateful that the local poker community is so dedicated, and I hope local lawmakers know that these voters care deeply about their freedoms.
“The PPA looks forward to working with Washington’s state and federal lawmakers, regardless of outcome in this case, to establish effective licensing and regulation of online poker as opposed to criminalizing citizens for playing the game.”

The Poker Players Alliance is still working hard to try and get online poker legalized for US citizens. The Poker Players Alliance met today outside of the Washington State Supreme Court building at 10:00 am to fight a gambling law that was recently enacted by the state.
Lee Rousso the PPA director of Washington State is trying to talk the State Supreme Court into overturning the law that makes playing online poker a Class C felony. The game of poker is now considered the same as a child pornography or heroin charge.
Rousso has stated that the law amounts to protectionist legislation for the in-state gambling interest. Rousso has stated that this is not legal as it is in violation of the Commerce Clause of the Constitution in the United States.
Several members of the PPA are attending the meeting today including Phil Gordon and Alfonse D’Amato the PPA Director and a former New York Senator. D’Amato commented that the law is shocking and players should not be considered felons for playing poker online in their own homes.
The PPA has encouraged their members to attend the rally in support of changing the bill and hopefully this movement will help turn the State Supreme Court in the right direction. A change would be in favor of online poker and hopefully it would be a step in the legalization of online poker in the US.

The Bodog gambling brand recently made a few changes to their T&C and Commission plans. Some of the affiliates of the Bodog Brand are affected by these changes. The standard advertised Revenue Share rates have been changed as well as standard CPA has been changed as well.
Those who are existing revenue share partners will remain on their current program unless they would like to switch. The new offering has different tier levels and partners can earn up to 45% on casino revenues.
New affiliate partners will be introduced to a variation of minimum player requirements and they will be outlined in the T&C. the new variation will not affect those who already have an account as a Bodog Affiliate. New partners who do not refer at least three players who make deposits in the first six months will earn a 10% share of revenue. New affiliates will still have the opportunity to earn the standard revenue share levels after the six month period if they meet the minimum requirement for new players.
The last change to the revenue sharing partner program now is subject to fees. The program has not charge affiliates in the past but due to challenges and increase costs related to doing business the program has been forced to calculate monthly earnings with fee deductions. Only those who open an account prior to July 1st 2010 will be affected.
The Standard CPA offerings for Bodog Affiliates have been changed as well. The current offering of the CPA is $100 and now there will be a sliding scale. Partners will be able to earn up to $125 depending on how many qualified players are referred. The qualifications for earning CPA will be the same.
One through twenty depositing players will earn $75 CPA; twenty four to forty depositing players will earn $100 while forty one and up players will earn $125.
The new plan will go into effect on July 1st for existing partners and new affiliates will be subject to the changes as soon as they sign up.

Software provider Playtech recently announced that they have won a supply deal with Rahaautomaattiyhdistys (RAY) which is Finland’s new online casino and poker monopoly. EGRmagazine recently reported that RAY cleared in February to launch their online casino and poker rooms.
RAY is Finland’s Slot Machines Association and they were cleared by parliament to get the ball rolling in the online gambling market. At the same time the Finnish state lottery was also approved to offer online bingo.
The new Playtech deal is a four year contract which will see RAY launching an online casino and poker room using Playtech’s technology platform. The poker options will be played on an exclusive Finnish network.
The online gaming options are scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2010 and the site will include a mobile offering for those interested. Mor Weizer the Playtech chief executive commented: ”By establishing a domestic online offering, RAY will be furthering its philosophy of responsible and trustworthy gaming. The unique player management tools we can provide will ensure a secure and safe operating environment in line with RAY’s core values.”
Monopolies are welcome in Finland as they are seen by citizens as more accountable in their operations than private operators. Also citizens like the fact that the profits go directly to the state instead of into the private sector.

As online poker in the United States gets closer to reality, there are still a few in the political realm that are trying to keep the card game from becoming legalized and regulated in the state. One such person is Alabama Representative Spencer Bachus. The representative has stated that players of the game are like addicts to an illegal drug and he says he will do everything he can to prevent the game from becoming legal.
Bachus is a republican member of the House of Representatives and he is also a ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee. Bachus commented: “internet poker is the crack cocaine of gambling’ and he says he cares about the dangers of gambling.
Bachus has stated that young people are particularly vulnerable and that it is important we do not put a casino in every dorm room in the country. Bachus also has stated that online gambling is very addictive but this is very contradictory to recent reports that have surfaced in the online gambling community. The reports have shown that online players are not more inclined to become addicted to players elsewhere, like at land casinos.
Just last week Bachus led a group of republicans, all congressmen, to petition Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. The petition was created to demand the rejection of a bid by the Poker Players Alliance. The PPA wanted online poker removed from the activities that are deemed illegal by the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act. The UIGEA is set to go into effect on June 1st and the PPA has been trying to have poker removed from the list of illegal games.
