After 234 players registered for Day 1a of the European Poker Tour stop in Vienna Austria it looked as if the EPT’s first return to trip to Austria would fall well below the 600 player cap installed at the outset of the tournament. With a final table that included Bryan Devonshire and up-and-coming poker superstars William Reynolds, the World Series of Poker Circuit Series in Hammond, Indiana was sure to include some fireworks. In the end it was Kurt Jewell who would outlast the rest of the field and walk away with the coveted Gold Ring, and nearly $250,000 in prize-money.
Reynolds, who finished in 3rd place, was amongst the chip-leaders throughout the tournament, and held the chip-lead during three-handed play until a brutal 20 minute stretch that saw him hit the rail thanks to four hands; in the first hand Reynolds flopped top-pair only to run into a set; followed by a massive four-bet all-in that forced him to fold; next Reynolds held JJ dominating Jewell, only to see the board run out A-3-5-2-4 for a split pot; and the final nail in the coffin saw Reynolds get it in with A4 against A6, alas there was no chop this time as the board ran out 3-K-Q-5-J.
Here is how the final 10 players finished in the tournament:
1. Kurt Jewell $242,909
2. Jared Kenworthy $150,104
3. William Reynolds $110,567
4. Edwin Choi $82,514
5. Nick Jivkov $62,384
6. Will Souther $47,772
7. Bryan Devonshire $37,047
8. Daniel Cohen $29,087
9. Casey Hayes $23,120
10. Matthew Shepsky $18,598
The WSOP Circuit Series Regional Championship begins today in Hammond with a $10,000 buy-in Main Event.

According to coinflip.com, Sami Kelopuro, who goes by the name of LarsLuzak at the online poker tables, will be back in Finland on November 8th in order to clear up a tax issue concerning unpaid taxes on one of his cars, which amounts to just a few hundred Euros. Kelopuro, who is a blogger at coinflip.com told the site, “It’s basically nothing. I moved abroad in 2009 and left my old car in Finland. I simply forgot to pay the tax on the vehicle…”
Kelopuro moved to Monaco in 2009 –Monaco has much more relaxed taxation laws, especially when it comes to gambling– to escape the extremely high taxation rate in Finland where Online Poker players are taxed, and taxed heavily! Prior to moving, Kelopuro paid the Finnish Government a whopping €800,000 in taxes! No wonder nearly every top Scandinavian player moves to Monaco and other locales.
Kelopuro shot to fame for his instant success at the high-stakes poker tables on Full Tilt Poker back in 2007 where he quickly went up $1.5 million. Kelopuro has since struggled at the nosebleed tables, but considering the €800k in taxes he owed –as well as his ability to pay this amount—it would seem LarsLuzak is doing just fine at the poker tables.

Heading into the final table the talk of the tournament was focused on Andrew Frankenberger who was going for his second straight World Poker Tour victory, but lost in the shuffle was Randal Flowers, who won the 2009 WPT Spanish Championship. The 22 year-old entered the final table as the chip-leader and was able to hold on for the victory, making him the youngest two-time WPT Champion in history.
Now the holder of two WPT records –youngest ever Champion in the 2009 Spanish Championship, and now youngest with two WPT Championships– Flowers was hopeful his latest triumph might land him a sponsorship deal at an online poker site: “I just want some poker site to recognize it and sponsor an American guy who’s had some success…”
The turning point in the tournament for Flowers happened on Day 5 with 8 players left in the tournament: Flowers found himself all-in with K-T, and in rough shape against Michael Benvenuti’s pocket Kings, only to make a straight on the river. Benvenuti managed to overcome the misfortune and finished runner-up in the event to Flowers.
Here is a look at the final table results for the 2010 WPT Festa al Lago tournament:
1. Randal Flowers $831,500
2. Michael Benvenuti $564,200
3. Noah Schwartz $344,968
4. Jason Koon $225,680

13 players remained at the start of Day 5 of the WPT Festa al Lago tournament, and with a number of big name poker pros still in the running for the World Poker Tour Festa al Lago Championship it looked like we were going to have a stacked final table.
Unfortunately for poker fans we lost four of those players between spots 13 and 7: Annette Obrestad who entered the day as the chip-leader was the first to hit the rail in 13th place, continuing her US drought; John Monnette followed Obrestad to the rail in 12th place; Jeff Madsen was the next big name eliminated in 11th place; Brandon Steven bested his 2010 WSOP Main Event finish by one spot finishing in 9th place; and Allen Kessler was the final bubble boy, finishing in 7th place.
There is still a lot of talent remaining in the field with Michael Benvenuti, Noah Schwartz, and Andy Frankenberger. Frankenberger is looking for his 2nd straight WPT win in the US –he won the Legends of Poker tournament in August.
Here is a look at the final table seat assignments and chip counts for the remaining players:
· Seat 1: Skip Wilson — 1,200,000
· Seat 2: Michael Benvenuti — 1,390,000
· Seat 3: Jason Koon — 2,555,000
· Seat 4: Noah Schwartz — 3,135,000
· Seat 5: Randal Flowers — 3,215,000
· Seat 6: Andy Frankenberger — 1,935,000
