There are gambling companies that operate out of South Africa, media programs, gambling sites, etc. Time will tell how these companies will proceed. Will they relocate established businesses to other countries, costing local citizens jobs? ? Ban South African IP addresses?
According to reports, both operators and gamblers are considered to be at in violation of the law when South Africans gamble online.
You as an Affiliate May Be Breaking The Law
In fact, according to some reports, affiliates and others that advertise or facilitate the advertisement of online gambling are also in violation of the law.
The penalty?
Up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of right around £1 million, the equivalent to R10 million. Mayhap South Africa is just looking for a big paydays?

Ultimate Bet has once again changed altered their affiliate link structure. This announcement means that all Ultimate Bet (UB) affiliate links will need to update their tracking links as soon as possible. The new Ultimate Bet links will be displayed as follows:
New Ultimate Bet Affiliate Link Format: http://www.ub.com/?ubAffilID=XXXXX
Old Ultimate Bet Affiliate Format: http://www.ultimatebet.com/?ubAffilID=XXXXX
Here’s an excerpt from a recent UB.net email:
As you know, UltimateBet was recently rebranded UB.com. The revitalized brand means more excitement for the passionate poker player and there’s a lot in store for affiliates too.
Kind of looks like the company just decided to change the drapes, and cost affiliates thousands of dollars in the process? It’s sort of like a coupon for UB right? Save thousands of dollars redecorating, get the cash from affiliates!
How does this effect you? It could mean the loss of thousands of dollars. Links that have been placed in guest blogs, article submissions, etc are just null and void as of now, free traffic to UB. All affiliate links that are not changed to this new format by …. are just free traffic to Ultimate Bet.
The launch of the UB name as a brand comes with creative updates to banners, SEO changes and updates to your links as well. It is important to note that all references, text, and text links MUST be changed from UltimateBet.com to UB.com.
Chipleader didn’t announce the last date that the old trackers will track. We’ve emailed for clarification.

The subjects been debated, discussed, and really beat right into the ground. When is it ok to reuse someone else’s words? Some say that it’s fine to use an article in it’s entirety that was written by someone else, and published somewhere else, as long as you give the article originator credit.
What they’re saying there is that as long as they link back to the place where the article was copied from, it’s ok to copy it.
A company called Righthaven LLC doesn’t seem to agree however, according to a news article written in the Las Vegas Sun, the company has been buying rights to the copied gambling content, and then suing the copyright infringers, which in and of itself doesn’t seem like a bad business plan.
The original copyright belonged to a company called Stephens Media LLC.

Operating under the Party Gaming group, AffClub Affiliate Program as well as Party Partners has earned the eCOGRA Seal of approval. The affiliate program has passed the on-site inspection test by eCOGRA the independent standards organization.
Because they passed the test, AffClub Affiliate Program now has received the Affliate Trust Seal. Any program that has the Seal on their site shows that they have the best efficiency, player fairness and player protection.
The affiliate program prepares marketing for online casinos, nine in fact, which includes Casino King and Noble Casino. Sean Roberts the Compliance Manager for eCOGRA commented on AffClub gaining their seal by stating: AffClub operates in a highly professional manner and its focus on meeting the needs of affiliates within given control frameworks provides for a reliable and effective platform for affiliates and regulators alike.”
The AffClub will now be able to feature the eCOGRA Affiliate Trust Seal on their site since they met the affiliate program standards of the eCOGRA. Andrew Beveridge the chief executive of eCOGRA commented: “Achieving accreditation such as AffClub has done requires high levels of commitment and sound administrative and business systems.”
Beveridge went on to say that the criteria for accreditation includes that affiliate revenues are calculated fairly as well as accurately. The affiliate program must also see that payments are on time and players should be able to accurately link the players to their affiliates.

Royal Apollo Casino was launched in 2009 and it seems the casino is having problems. After only about a year in service the casino is shutting its doors and recommending that affiliates of the casino terminate their affiliate deals.
The Royal Apollo Casino sent out a letter recently which read:
Dear affiliates, Due to the ongoing issues we are having with processing and Rival management we will be closing down our site in the next few days. We are committed to providing top standards of gaming and support to both players and affiliates. This decision was not easy, but the ongoing issues are not allowing us to offer these standards. Please terminate all affiliate deals within the immediate, we hope (we can’t enforce this as its Rival that holds all fees), that Rival will respect and honor the current and future revenue that you are entitled to. Thank you, Michael and Emma, Royal Apollo Affiliates
Apparently the casino was having troubles with Rival and they chose to shut down their site instead of switching software providers. Hopefully Rival will honor the affiliates with the funds they should receive if not they may have a large battle on their hands.

Hollywood Poker recently announced they will no longer be able to support new French players. Because of the pending enforcement of new gambling laws in France the site has made this decision. Hollywood Poker also announced that the network they use, Ongame will also be blocking French players from their network in the coming weeks.
Hollywood Poker has ceased new traffic from France and players from France will be blocked from creating a new account and any Hollywood Affiliates who send French players to the site will not be compensated. However those who are affiliates and have French players already on the Ongame network will continue to be paid until Ongame closes out play options to French players.
Hollywood Poker is currently looking into licensing options in France and they will be updating their partners when they reach a decision. The site is hoping they can open back up to the French market very soon.
Hollywood Poker announced that when Ongame shuts off French players from competing on their site the following will take place:
Real money players from France will be blocked from the site. Tournament tickets held by French players will be expired. Any running bonuses that French players have will expire. French poker players will be able to withdraw their real money from their account and they will be notified to remove funds from their account. French players will still be able to play the play money games at Hollywood Poker.

How often do you give up facing adversity ?
People take difficulty as a sign to move on. They give up because there is “something wrong and not enough” : Maybe their idea wasn’t so great after all, they don’t have enough visitors, they don’t convert.. In general, people use difficulty as a means to justify quitting. The result can be giving up on promising projects or quitting affiliating altogether.
But you give up a lot by quitting.
Every time you conceptualize a website idea, you fill your cup
Every time you create that website, you fill your cup
Every time you write content, you fill your cup
Every time you get backlinks, you fill your cup
Every time you read Poker Affiliate forums, you fill your cup
Don’t spill everything and quit at the first signs of difficulty.
You think you are owed something right away for filling your cup. Because you have no short term results, you think you’re not good enough and that it’s just not worth it.
But in this field you need the confidence and will power to keep filling your cup when the results aren’t there. Perseverance is key like everything else in life.
My advice is to keep your cup full no mater the short term results, what people tell you, and outer circumstances. Stick to the plan and you will have given yourself the best chance to succeed.
I’m not the smartest guy in the world, but my perseverance alone has allowed me to achieve some great goals. I went from rural France to receiving a Masters from Caltech, working for a start-up in California, getting acquired, and now being a project manager.
My next goal is to be a super affiliate one day, no matter how long it takes. The formula I will use to get there is the following: networking, persevering, and listening to better affiliates.
I’m not about to give up and you shouldn’t too.
